15. By the Numbers

IMG_0806.jpg

It’s a Sunday afternoon, and the sky has been threatening to open up all day, but I’ve only seen lightening, heard a little thunder, and felt the tiniest sprinkle. I WANT the rain, because I’ve just transplanted over 800 plants into the ground: tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, eggplant, melons, winter and summer squash, strawberries, leeks, onions, and shallots. Whew! So while the empty trays may not look like much, they are a promise of food to come.

So now I wait out this storm that’s darkening the afternoon, and take a tip of Mr. Wiggles, who has adapted quite well to country life and just enjoy the rest of the day, watching the storm roll in.

Only three more Saturdays until my first day of market. Woot!
