7. Things are Happening
It’s official: things are happening.
My plant starts are have germinated indoors, I’ve painted a wall, today was the first day I worked outside in a tank-top (huzzah! The Sun!), and Indiana is officially under orders to stop all face-to-face contact on account of Covid-19.
First, the plants starts.
I was pretty convinced (a la the last blog post) that these seeds would be duds. Some are, after all, almost six years old. But by some miracle of heat and moisture, many have sprouted. Of course, it’s not the rate I would usually expect, but impressive, nonetheless.
Additionally, our house is slowly becoming a home. I spent a couple days steaming wallpaper and borders off, and spent entirely too long in Lowe’s trying to decide on a color when I already knew what I was going to do: give me navy blue, all day, every day. So I painted a wall, and magically, the living room almost looks livable (aside from the the other four walls that are covered in patches, and badly in need of a coat of paint). Needless to say, I am, dare I say, pleased at the effect.
I also repainted the lower kitchen cabinets, since the original job turned out not navy (even though the picture on the box was very dark blue) but country grayish-blue. Thanks for nothing, Nuvo cabinet paint! Sometimes a job just needs to be done twice to get it right.
And finally, I got to work outside today in the sun! It was so warm, that I got some sun on my arms. Thank you, random warm spring day! I also got my first sunburn of the season; wowzers, March—you’re bringing it.
Tomorrow, I plant the beds I laid out, will finish painting the kitchen cabinets (this round: upper cabinets, which will be white), and maybe I’ll attempt another wall paint job to get the living room half-way finished…as if anything around here will ever be “finished”…
